Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2016

It's the most wonderful time of the yeaaaarrrr....yes that's right, the biggest event in everyones calendar has arrived. Nope, not Christmas, although Christmas is pretty damn exciting, but I am of course referring to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which took place this year in the city of love, Paris. For those of you who aren't familiar with what the VS Fashion Show is, firstly, where have you been? Secondly, you are missing out and, thirdly, allow me to provide you with some more information...

The VS Fashion Show is an annual fashion show which is used to showcase and promote the latest Victoria's Secret collections by the lingerie and sleepwear brand. The whole thing is very luxurious indeed with some of the biggest names in the modelling industry walking the runway wearing elaborate costumed lingerie. The show also features performances from some of the biggest names in the music industry at the moment. Past years have seen the likes of Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran and Selena Gomez take to the catwalk to entertain the crowd with their hits whilst the gorgeous models walk around them. The 2016 show saw performances from The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. I know right, what a combination!

There are a variety of sets throughout the show, according to the different themes running within the collections. Each year, twenty to forty of the world’s top fashion models are selected to perform in the fashion show. This usually includes a handful of women under contract to the company who are known as Victoria’s Secret Angels and help publicise the event and literally everyone is obsessed with them. The models wear giant angel wings, which a lot of people now associate with the brand. They give the whole thing a very fantastical, magical, special feeling and these come in various forms, including butterfly, peacock, or devil wings. This year, 52 models in total blessed us with their beauty on the VS runway, meaning this show featured the largest group of girls to ever take to the VS Catwalk!

If you want a bit more history, the VS show began way back in the 1990s and the first few shows were not televised, however, since the hype grew and grew, the show is now aired on CBS each December. The show initially took place in the run up to Valentine’s Day in order to promote the brand for that holiday but moved to the Christmas period in 2001. Finally, the show has been held in a number of locations around the world, including Los Angeles, Cannes and Miami. So, as you can gather, its a preeeeetty big deal.

So, why does everyone totally freak OUT over the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show? Its literally just a bunch of girls walking a catwalk, right? Wrong. As mentioned, the hype grows and grows each year and the world looks forward to seeing the new VS collections, celebrating the brand, watching some killer musical performances and getting excited about some of the world’s most famous models all being together in the same place at the same time. All of the ladies who walk on the runway on the night have been prepping for months for that moment, some years if it’s their first time, and they always look beyond incredible. They give anyone with a brain cell major envy and you'd be crazy not to crush on them. The VS Fashion Show is just always a spectacular night in general, and the build up especially is huge. TBH, people basically just get excited about watching a load of hot girls model some pretty spectacular lingerie whilst eating junk food and sobbing over how fit they all look. It causes us pain yet we still enjoy it = logic.

This year’s show took place on 30th November and shall air on 5th December on CBS. I wanted to show you some of my favourite looks from this year's VS extravaganza, well, I say 'some' but there are loads. Some of my favourite ladies starred in this year's show including Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Georgia Fowler, Sara Sampaio, Josephine Skriver, Stella Maxwell, Joan Smalls, Taylor Hill, Martha Hunt, okay okay, there are too many to name!! You’re probs going to want to sit down whilst you scroll through the following images because the perfection is just too much to handle.

Once the show is over, the models head to a well-deserved after party but not before they've WOWed everyone one last time with some stunning outfits. The girls all pose on the pink carpet (not red, of course) and set pulses racing with their beauty. Here are some of the pink carpet looks that turned me into the heart eyes Emoji...
