Things To Remember Whilst You're In School

School. It's a tricky time. Sure, you learn a lot about subjects you may love (and subjects you hate) and also learn a lot about yourself and the big wide world. But still, it's a scary, confusing time. You spend most of it dealing with trying to fit in, exam stress, friendship dramas, maybe relationship dramas, personal problems and a hell of a lot more. Plus, on top of all of that, you're forced to choose what career you want for the rest of your life before you can even buy a lottery ticket and also need to find time to figure out who the heck you actually are.
We all have our ups and downs throughout school as each new term throws more challenges at us, so, I thought I would provide you with a list of sixty things to remember whilst you're at school. I hope you take something from it!

  1. 1.      It's okay to get stressed, it shows you care.
    2.      The number of Christmas cards you get doesn't mean anything.
    3.      That group who keep picking on you probably won't even speak to each other when they leave school.
    4.      There is no such thing as a 'nerd' or a 'geek.'
    5.      Everyone forgets to do their homework sometimes, it's alright, it happens!
    6.      Teachers only want what is best for you.
    7.      But, at the same time, don't let them get to you or tear you apart. It's just their opinion.
    8.      Don't just do things because your friends are doing them.
    9.      But, also, don't let your friends talk you out of doing things you want to do.
    10.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with keeping your uniform presentable. You don't need to roll your skirt up or untuck your shirt like everyone else.
    11.  It's alright to be five minutes late sometimes.
    12.  Don't talk back to teachers, their job isn't to put up with abuse.
    13.  Just because everyone is doing it, doesn't mean you don't fit in if you don't.
    14.  Besides, 'fitting in' is overrated.
    15.  There is more to being a teen than being super skinny.
    16.  Exams do not define you.
    17.  But still, work hard because, in the grand scheme of things, they barely take up any of your time.
    18.  All you can do is try your best.
    19.  So, whatever target grades your school sets you, don't beat yourself up if you don't achieve them.
    20.  Some people will always have a problem with you, it's their loss, let it go.
    21.  Most of the time, those who do have a problem with you are jealous.
    22.  Don't judge, stereotypes are a load of rubbish.
    23.  Everyone makes mistakes, one silly one doesn't matter, honestly.
    24.  If you don't want to go to prom, don't go to prom.
    25.  Your time at school will honestly fly by,
    26.  If you hate school, you'll be out of there before you know it.
    27.  If you love school, enjoy it whilst it lasts.
    28.  These are only five years of your life, you can get through them.
    29.  Don't be afraid to ask for help.
    30.  Nobody is good at every single subject.
    31.  Stop. Comparing. Yourself. To. Everyone. Else!
    32.  Don't get jealous of loved up couples in the corridor, they're not going to get married and probably won't be speaking next week.
    33.  The first heartbreak is always the hardest, it's meant to be.
    34.  Don't feel pressured into doing anything you don't want to do.
    35.  So what if you haven't had sex or kissed anyone yet? It really doesn't matter.
    36.  You don't have to go to parties every weekend to be cool.
    37.  If you want to eat the doughnut, eat the doughnut.
    38.  It's okay to not know what you want to do in the future.
    39.  Even adults now haven't got a clue what they want from the rest of their lives.
    40.  Find the subjects you enjoy and pursue them.
    41.  Don't worry about your sexuality.
    42.  Stop pretending to be someone you're not to impress people.
    43.  Tell your favourite teachers that they rock, they get enough stick.
    44.  Everyone gets spots.
    45.  Likewise, said spots won't be there forever.
    46.  Despite what you think, school rules are there for a reason.
    47.  Appreciate your friends whilst you're lucky enough to see them five days a week.
    48.  Stay away from drama. It's more hassle than it's worth.
    49.  Learn to say 'no.'
    50.  A challenge is good sometimes, don't make yourself feel useless for not understanding something instantly. Some things just take longer to click, that's all!
    51.  Take advantage of the amount of people willing to help you and give you advice for the future. Teachers, careers advisers, nurses...
    52.  A 'B' is actually a really good grade!!!
    53.  Don't overwork yourself, always make time to do the things you enjoy.
    54.  Even the popular kids are just as insecure as you are.
    55.  If you see someone being bullied, speak out.
    56.  If you are being bullied, speak out, you'll thank yourself for it.
    57.  Listen to your parents.
    58.  You don't have to post everything on social media.
    59.  Aplogise and forgive.
    60.  You are allowed to have whatever dreams you want, nothing is impossible.

What tips do you have for anyone in school? <3

Love, Emily :) xx
