My Travel Bucket List

I haven't travelled much so far in my short life and I always feel jealous of anyone who has! I have visited Spain, various places closer to home and Paris (which has to be my favourite city I've ever stayed in) yet have never ventured anywhere too far or exotic.
I wanted to share with you a the places I would love to visit before I die and the specific things I want to see whilst there. They say travel is the only thing you can buy that makes you richer and if, like myself, you've never visited any of the locations below, I am sure you will be consumed with wanderlust after reading this post! Let me know if you have been lucky enough to visit any of these places, if so, please take me in your suitcase next time!

Great Wall Of China
More than just a load of bricks, I can assure you. The Great Wall Of China is one of the most iconic man-made structures one Earth, although, it is actually a series of smaller walls as oppose to one big one, It expands over 5,000 miles and is apparently best experienced during the hikes along the top, as you get chance to admire the rugged landscape below. It looks like a photographer's dream!

Taj Mahal
The world's most famous landmark in honour of the driving force of humanity, love, with an elegant combination of Persian, Islamic, and Indian architecture. It's exterior looks stunning in photos, although, the interior is said to be even more stunning. Can you believe that is possible? This complex, detailed structure is sure to take anyone's breath away.

Machu Picchu
Located in Peru, this hidden gem is perched on the edge of a mountain, high in the Andes, You could choose to trek up their yourself or ride the bus up a winding road but, either way, the views are sure to be awe-inspiring, just like the history of the treasure is. Can you believe this fascinating place was left undiscovered until 1911?

The Grand Canyon
I doubt that I would be as brave as the guy in this photo if I was ever lucky enough to visit The Grand Canyon, but then again, I wonder if the beauty of it could ever truly be captured in photos alone? The Grand Canyon can be found in the high desert of Northern Arizona and is said to offer the most complete engagement with the human spirit you could ever witnessed and is also meant to make you cry. Doesn't that excite you already?

New York City
The fact that it is home to Times Square, The Statue of Liberty and The Empire State Building is enough to persuade me to want to go to NYC. A busy place, for sure, but the best kind of busy, full of energy and life and people will different stories from totally different backgrounds. I would love to live in New York City and I promise I'm not just saying that because it's amazing shops...

Los Angeles
I cannot see a reason why anybody who hasn't been to L.A would not want to go. The Southern California City is known for being the centre of all things television and film and is home to the iconic Hollywood Sign, as well as the Walk Of Fame. The long flight would certainly be worth it as the weather is beautiful and the ambiance there just seems beyond chilled.

Golden Gate Bridge
If San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge isn't the epitome of 'epic,' then I don't know what is. Many have driving across is on their bucket list, however, apparently, cycling across it offers a fresher perspective and even greater views across the bay, Alcatraz and the city skyline, as I can imagine.

Sydney Opera House
At a glance, I know it just looks like a bunch of shark fins sticking out of a rooftop, however, the Sydney Opera House's exquisite construction is undeniable and is something I would love to view up close and it doesn't surprise me that 200,000 people take a tour of the building each year. Also, whilst we're on the topic of bridges, from the Opera House, you can also see the dramatic view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

The Maldives

We've all seen the Tumblr snaps of the Maldives and I think its one of those places that many people have a photo of as their phone wallpaper yet never believe they'll actually get to go there. I don't think the tranquillity of the place could ever be portrayed in a photo, though. It's known for its spas and beautiful sea and sand but, above all, seems the perfect place to relax. I would also absolutely love to visit Ithaa Undersea, the first all glass, undersea restaurant, which offers 180 degree views of the ocean whilst you dine!

Tokyo
Japan is certainly somewhere which is top of my travel bucket list! I always get extremely envious whenever I see someone who I follow on social media travelling there. The bustling capital gives the best of both worlds as it is where the latest trends and oldest traditions collide. I would love to visit a Cherry Blossom Festival (one of the best places to do so being Nagoya Castle), the Harajuku neighbourhood, which is famous for its street fashion, and, of course, sample every possible type of food.

Santorini
Whenever I see photos of Santorini, I am convinced it is too perfect to be a real place. The Greek Island is home to what is said to be one of the most iconic sunsets and those famous white-washed houses of its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia, which look like they only belong on a postcard. They overlook the clear Aegean and beaches made up of black, red and white lava pebbles.

Rome
Rome is somewhere I have wanted to visit for a long time. I love how traditional it has remained and long to catch a glimpse of its amazing architecture! I'm not sure I would get chance to visit all 280 fountains and 900 churches, but I would like to see The Trevi Fountain, which, unsurprisingly attracts over 3,000 people each night, and the Colosseum.

Those where just a few places I dream of visiting. What's on your travel bucket list? <3

Love, Emily :) xx
