3 Super Easy Easter Biscuit Decoration Ideas

My last baking blog post was definitely one of my favourites to put together so, when Easter began to approach, I couldn't wait to get back in the kitchen to make something else!

I wanted to do something super duper easy that didn't involve too much baking or time so I decided to design some Easter biscuits! These biscuits are perfect for last minute Easter treats as they didn't take too long at all and can also be eaten all throughout Spring!
I cheated a bit by not baking the biscuits myself, which makes them even more suitable for last minute, however, you can definitely use your own biscuits if you prefer and add your own ingredients to make them more healthy! Let me know what treats you're going to be enjoying this Spring!

To make all of the biscuits, you will need:

  • Larger biscuits (I used McVities gestives)
  • Smaller biscuits (I used Fox's Crinkle Crunch Butter)
  • Icing sugar
  • Icing pens
  • Icing/food colouring
  • Smarties (or alternatives if you don't like them!)
1) Little Yellow Chicks

You will need:
  • Icing sugar
  • Yellow icing/food colouring
  • Black icing/food colouring OR a black icing pen
  • Red icing/food colouring OR a red icing pen
  • A piping bag or an alternative
  • Large biscuits (as many as you would like to make)
How to make them:
  1. Put some icing sugar into a bowl and mix it with some water. Mix it well until it is a suitable enough consistency to spread. You want it to be thick enough to stick but think enough to spread!
  2. Mix some yellow food colouring into this icing and spread it all over the top of your biscuits. Make sure you leave the icing to set before doing any decoration.
  3. Once the icing has set, mix some more icing and use a black food colouring to colour it. You can use a black icing pen if you like, however, I couldn't find one!
  4. Put your black icing into a piping bag, or something similar, and use it to create 2 eyes, legs and wings on your chick.
  5. Mix some red icing (I was able to use a red icing pen for this instead) and use it to draw a little beak.
  6. Leave all of your icing to set and then they will be ready to eat!
2) Hatching Chicks

You will need:
  • Icing sugar
  • Yellow icing/food colouring
  • Black icing/food colouring OR a black icing pen
  • Red icing/food colouring OR a red icing pen
  • A piping bag or an alternative
  • Large biscuits (as many as you would like to make)
  • Smaller biscuits
  • Maybe a sharp knife
How to make them:
  1. Mix some yellow icing (see above what to do) and spread it over the top of your small biscuits. Leave to set.
  2. Now its time to make the egg shells! You may find it easier to put the icing on before 'cracking' the shells, however, I broke mine first. Take a knife and cut into your biscuit half way down to make a zig-zag line, just like a cracked egg shell. Do this so you have enough shells, one for each smaller biscuit.
  3. If you haven't already done so, cover your eggs shells in white icing and leave to set,.
  4. Once both are set, spread some more plain icing onto the bottom of the egg shell and stick it half way down your smaller biscuit.
  5. Mix some red and black icing (or use an icing pen again) and, just like above, use it to create eyes and a beak onto the chicks.
  6. Leave to set and then enjoy!
3) Flower Biscuits

You will need:
  • Icing sugar
  • Green icing/food colouring.
  • Large biscuits (as many as you would like to make)
  • Smarties (or an alternative)
How to make them:
  1. Mix some green icing and spread it all over your biscuits.
  2. Once the green icing has set, you can decorate them. I chose to use Smarties, however, if you don't like those, you can use something different. You can even just draw on them with different coloured icing if you prefer! If using Smarties/sweets, place a blob of plain icing onto each sweet and stick it onto the biscuit, arranging them to make a flower. I used a yellow one in the centre then orange, purple and pink on for the petals. You may need to open a couple of tubes of Smarties to find the right amount of a certain colour haha.
  3. Once you have stuck all of the sweets on top, leave them to set and enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post! I had lots of fun making it. Be sure to send me photos of the treats you're enjoying this Easter/Spring as I would love to see them, although, they might make my tummy rumble haha! Oh, and remember, your treats don't have to be perfect as mine certainly weren't haha!

HAPPY EASTER!

Love, Emily :) xx
